Joshua Fraioli
Joshua Fraioli’s work investigates the impact of impermanence. He sculpts body parts and objects that hold memories of past relationships. The effect of creating and viewing these ephemera reproduces a state of limerence, of lingering obsession. Through his work he explore the juxtaposition of wanting someone to stay with the inevitability of change and shades of loss.
Each fragmented body part that was created through ceramic structure represents a relationship experienced, recreating and distorting bodies represented through textured glazing techniques. The intent is to capture the nature of the storied memories, aspects that are destined to become muddled, erased, and fragmented in the passage of time.
